3-Day Intensive Surface Decoration Course with Rebecca Appleby

£405.00

15th - 17th May 2024
£405 with Rebecca Appleby (this includes all materials and colours for the course, firings, lunch and refreshments)

This 3 day intensive introduction to surface decoration delivered by myself will focus on qualities of mark making, colour, application and texture in clay. Each student will be given the opportunity to create clay vessels on which to practise new decorative skills and techniques.
I will discuss various techniques and applications of ceramic media and the most successful stages to apply the various different layers.

Practical work is demonstration-led and tailored, as much as is possible, to the needs of the individuals. Guidance and help is given throughout.

This exciting course is suitable for a beginner or a more confident artist. Class sizes are limited, 8-10 students to ensure individual guidance & a productive group dynamic.

The materials provided on this course are the materials that I use to make work to exhibition standard. There are no extra charges for materials or firing.

The courses is focused on surface and texture with slips, underglaze and oxide but there is some flexibility on ideas and outcome. You will be amazed at how versatile the techniques can be and at the dramatic surface effects that can be created in a relatively small space of time.

The courses are very much designed to send you away with proudly finished pieces of decorated sculptural work and feeling very much inspired and confident to go back to your own studios/classes, armed with new ideas & techniques to try.
