3-Day Surface Decoration Course
Join ceramic artist and sculptor Rebecca Appleby for an inspiring three-day exploration of contemporary ceramic surface decoration.
This intensive course offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from Rebecca’s personal studio practice at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Drawing on over twenty years of experience as a professional artist, Rebecca shares the techniques, materials and creative processes that have shaped her distinctive sculptural work, providing insight into both the technical and conceptual approaches behind her surfaces.
Over three days you will explore layering with slips, underglazes and oxides, alongside carving, texture, resist techniques and the thoughtful use of colour and mark-making. Through a combination of demonstrations, practical exercises and individual tuition, you will develop a deeper understanding of how surface can transform form, communicate atmosphere and enrich the visual language of your own work.
